This annual trip will be the kick off event for the coming New Year 2008, aboard the Virginia City. Step aboard the opulent private rail car and experience all the romance and nostalgia of a by gone era, that is sure to provide you with spectacular scenery, fine food, warm and friendly staff to pamper you, so you can relax and have fun in an elegant atmosphere. We invite our special passengers who join us every year to do so again in 2008, and we also invite those who have not traveled with us before, to join us for the time of your life, as we make our way through the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Reno and Sparks, Nevada.

The Virginia City is an elegant private rail car that has a brass-railed open observation platform, cozy lounge with a working fireplace, dramatic dining room with an ornate 19th century crystal chandelier, custom china, crystal stemware, gold plated flatware, fresh napery and flowers.

PLEASE BOOK YOUR TRIP NOW! The cost for round trip fare per person is $429.00, and includes round-trip transportation, elegant gourmet meals, sumptuous hors d’ oeuvres, beverages and cocktail service. However, it does exclude gratuity, and is due by December 31st. This fare is non-refundable after this date. Although, fares will be refunded in full should the trip be cancelled due to insufficient bookings.We will depart Emeryville, California on Friday, January 18, at 9:30 a.m., and arrive in Reno, Nevada at 6:00 p.m. A shuttle will take everyone to their hotel either in Reno or Sparks. There will be no detraining or boarding at Sparks. All detraining and boarding will occur at the Reno Amtrak Station only! We will depart Reno, Nevada on Sunday, January 20, at approximately 9:30 a.m. and arrive in Emeryville, California about 7:00 p.m. Please plan on being at both Amtrak Stations at least 30 minutes prior to departure.

Day 1 The Adventure Begins!

Day 3 End of the Line

We’ve been making this run for over 20 years, each trip is better than the next. Each year we seem to see more and more of the same faces, making this a true tradition! This year we hope to top them all by making it the biggest Snowflake yet! We’ll start with our signature Champagne brunch, followed by an afternoon of spectacular sight seeing as we climb from the valley floor to the snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains. As we get closer to Reno an afternoon tea service will be set out, with plenty of savory appetizers and succulent sweets for everyone.

Day 2 Reno!

The day is yours, Virginia City Rail doesn’t need to tell you how to spend it. Enjoy one of Reno’s many casinos, live performances or music venues. There is plenty of stimulus around, but don’t be shy about asking the crew for tips on local attractions.

We’ve been told that “Rail Travel is the most fun you can have… with your clothes on!” Having had 20 years experience, we have to agree. The only thing better than taking the Snowflake to Reno is taking it back to San Francisco! Waiting on board are all your new friends eager to share their stories about winning and losing in the “biggest little city” in the world! You will receive the same great service on your way home as we roll out an entire day of beautiful scenery, delicious food, and great company. Our 3 course lunch is sure to impress even the most experienced palate. Even though today is the end of our voyage, its not the end of your experience. The memories and friendships created aboard our cars will last a lifetime!
