The Virginia City Interior - Crew's Hallway

Beyond the kitchen and crew's quarters, the hallway jogs a bit, and it is here that the car's electrical center is located in the cabinets located on the left hand side of the car. While some of the original Pullman electrical system is still intact, the car has recently undergone an extensive electrical upgrading in order to comply with strict Amtrak standards.

Also, there are several cabinets off to the right hand side that are used for storage of cleaning supplies, storage of soiled linens, and a small "broom closet" with various cleaning tools. Just before the door that leads to the car's forward vestibule, is a large closet. to your right. This is where the car's sound system is housed. At one time, this consisted of an Ampex reel-to-reel audio tape player (state-of-the-art circa 1955) and an amplifier. Music has been available in all of the rooms since 1955, and individual controls are provided. The car now comes equipped with an FM radio tuner and a multiple-cassette player and a 200 CD player.

At last, you exit through a door into the car's Vestibule.
