The Virginia City Interior - Crew's Quarters

Directly behind the kitchen is the crew's quarters. This room makes up in efficiency and space utilization what it lacks in luxury and opulence! Again, the room sleeps two in upper and lower berths. The lower berth has a small window with an adjustable reflective shade, and two small lights for reading. The upper berth has a small storage rack for magazines, books, Kleenex, and the like, and also has reading lights.

Like in the other rooms, the upper berth can be folded-up and the lower berth makes into two small sofas with a table in between for daytime use. However, it's not like the chef and steward get the opportunity to use it all that much during the day! It does offer a place of refuge for tired crew to get off their feet in privacy.

Also in the room is a toilet and a sink which folds up when not in use. We are in the process of reconfiguring this room so that there will be a shower enclosure that will include a toilet and sink. If you have a talent for multi-tasking, this room will give you plenty of opportunities to get a lot done all at the same time!

Beside being cramped beyond all belief, this room is situated over the lead set of trucks (wheels) which does not lend itself to a smooth a quiet ride. And yes, it really does help if the chef and steward get along really well and are very compatible. This is especially true when they may have to share this diminutive space for weeks on end!

From here, you exit the car through the Crew's Hallway and out to the Vestibule.
