The Virginia City Interior - Observation Platform

Your journey begins as you take hold of the grab irons leading to the open observation platform, surrounded by a gleaming brass railing and fittings. It is here that you can best experience the exhilaration of private rail car travel while comfortably seated in comfortable, padded folding chairs.

Sit back and enjoy a cool refreshing drink, or take pictures or videos of the spectacular scenery as you travel at a leisurely pace!  

Arguably the best seat in the house, the observation platform offers our passengers a very unique perspective on rail travel in the United States. With its unrestricted 180° view, the open platform remains one of the most distinctive features of railroading over the years. Most people associate this place with persons of great importance -- whether they be manufacturing magnates, industrial giants, or United States Presidents!  Those passengers lucky enough to ride the platform (and yes, they too are very important in their own right) know that there really is no better seat in the house!

However, there is still so much more to see and experience just ahead.
