The Virginia City Interior - Lucius Beebe Stateroom

In Mr. Beebe's room, the accommodations are for two with sleeping in upper and lower Pullman berths. At night both berths are made up with clean linens, fluffy pillows, and plenty of extra blankets. There are also small reading lamps available in each of the two corners of each berth. A fishnet storage bag is also available to store books and magazines in the upper berth (since there are no windows up there). Again, the underside of the upper berth has been painted with yet a different scene from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. The lower berth does have windows that afford reading by natural light, or the ability to look out over the ever-changing landscape. Reflective shades offer privacy and are easily raised and lowered.

It should be noted that Beebe's room differs considerably from the Guest accommodations in that is has a fairly large closet, and features a well-lit mirrored dressing table with four generous drawers for storage. While there is also considerable storage above the closets and dresser, most of these spaces are reserved for storage of the car's dry goods and extra linens.

Immediately adjacent to the room is the private bathroom with toilet and sink (unlike the Guest Room which has both toilet and sink in the room). The toilet is like the one in the Guest Room in that it too, is a fresh water flush type of recent design.

Before we leave Mr. Beebe's room, I would like to point out the door between the bathroom and the outside hallway, behind which the car's Showercan be found.
