The Virginia City Interior - Bath

In between the main door to Mr. Beebe's room and the private toilet area, is the car's shower that is accessible from Mr. Clegg's room as well. While it is operated as a shower today, it was also a Turkish (steam) bath during Beebe's and Clegg's ownership. Unfortunately, steam heat was discontinued on trains some time ago, so the Turkish Bath is no longer functional.

When compared with the showers found on current Amtrak sleeping cars, this shower is quite spacious. It can even accommodate two people quite comfortably! Just try that on an Amtrak train -- even in the deluxe bedrooms! Equipped with a shower head with a special shutoff valve for water conservation, and several grab irons for safety, it is something that usually catches the imagination of most people as they tour the car.

Now, we shall move on to Mr. Clegg's Stateroom just ahead.
