The Virginia City Interior - Guest Stateroom

From the parlor, you step into the main hallway which, is illuminated with two crystal beaded light fixtures, and highlighted with gold leaf. Windows line the right hand side of the car as you face forward.

The first room to the right is the "Guest" room as its brass nameplate implies. There are sleeping accommodations for two in the upper and lower berths, a sink, toilet, and a closet. As in all three bedrooms, the upper berth is painted with a scene from the "Virginia & Truckee Railroad," Lucius's and Charles's favorite railroad. This room was usually reserved for use by Mr. Beebe's 185-pound St. Bernard, Mr. T-Bone Towzer. It should also be noted that T-Bone's image has been incorporated into the scene of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad that adorns the upper berth. Ah, immortality at last!

Each berth in the Guest room is equipped with two small lights in each corner, to facilitate some night time reading. The lower berth has two sets of windows to look out, or the reflective shades can be lowered for privacy and sleep. There is no need to worry about waking up with the sun glaring in one's eyes!

Now, shall we go to the The Beebe Stateroom?
